Jouun-ji is a temple of the Chinzei school of Jodo-shu (Pure Land Buddhism) located in Honcho 6-chome, Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture. As a Jodo-shu temple, it has long taught the doctrine of rebirth through nembutsu recitation and provided spiritual solace to the people of this region. Within the history of Kiryu, which prospered as a textile town, this temple served as a place of prayer and salvation for countless people through the cycles of life and death. The temple grounds maintain a quiet and serene atmosphere, allowing visitors to feel the compassion of Amida Buddha.
