Chouraku-ji

This ancient Jodo sect temple, nestled north of Maruyama Park, was founded by the venerable priest Boyo Shonin, a disciple of Honen. The Amida Buddha enshrined in the main hall watches over all seekers of rebirth in the Pure Land. Through autumn nights and flickering candlelight, the prayers for enlightenment continue to echo along these sacred grounds, binding past and present.
