History
Takiguchiji is a temple of the Jodo sect located at the foot of Mount Ogura in Sagakameyamacho, Ukyo Ward, Kyoto. Its principal image is Amida Nyorai. The temple is known as a site associated with Takiguchi Nyudo from The Tale of the Heike and the tragic love story between him and Yokobue. Surrounded by the bamboo groves of Sagano, the quiet grounds convey the Buddhist sense of impermanence that permeates this tale of the Heian era.
