History
Myoo-in is an ancient Shingon Buddhist temple located in Kusado-cho, Fukuyama, deeply connected to the history of Kusado Sengen, a medieval town. This area was known long ago as a flourishing commercial city near the mouth of the Ashida River. Both the main hall and five-story pagoda are designated as National Treasures, with the pagoda being renowned for its exceptional beauty among structures in the Chugoku region. Standing within the grounds, one is struck by the solemnity of buildings bearing the marks of ages. Surrounded by the rich natural beauty of Kusado, this temple brings profound peace and spiritual fulfillment to visitors.
