History

This kofun (burial mound), designated by the Imperial Household Agency as the mausoleum of Emperor Ingyō (the 19th emperor), is located in Fujiidera, Osaka Prefecture. Known also as Ichinoyama Kofun, it is a keyhole-shaped mound (zenpō-kōen-fun) and forms part of the Furuichi Kofun Group, which was inscribed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. While the actual identity of the entombed individual remains historically uncertain, the site has long been revered as sacred imperial ground.
