History

Sano Yakuyoke Daishi is renowned as one of the three great masters of the Kanto region. According to tradition, it was founded in 944 (Tengyō 7) and boasts over a thousand years of history as a spiritually efficacious master for protection from calamities. Its formal name is Kasugaoka-yama Tenhoririn-in Sōshūji. Visitors from throughout the nation come for its benefits of calamity prevention and directional protection.
