History

Hoshimiya Jinja is an unusually rare shrine dedicated to the deity of stars, enshrined in Shimono. Since ancient times, it has been connected with celestial beliefs, particularly those in the North Star and the Big Dipper. In this region where agriculture thrives, the movement of stars has long guided agricultural work, and the shrine has been revered as a deity for prayers of bountiful harvests. Known affectionately as "Hoshimiya-sama," the shrine is said to grant benefits for academic achievement and good fortune. It is a shrine with a deeply romantic faith in which the stars of the night sky are believed to carry people's wishes to heaven. Even today, many students visit to pray for exam success, making it a shrine that illuminates the light of hope.
