History

Onrinji is a Rinzai sect temple of the Kenchoji branch, located in the quiet rural landscape of Oura, Gunma Prefecture. Its mountain name is Tokozan, and it looks to Kenchoji in Kamakura as its head temple. The principal object of worship is Yakushi Ruriko Nyorai, the Medicine Buddha, revered since ancient times for relieving illness and suffering.
