Modorogi Jinja in Ikadate, Otsu, Shiga Prefecture, enshrines Fujiwara no Tabiko no Rei and is known for its divine protection over travel safety and household well-being. The shrine name, Modorogi, meaning to return from a journey, reflects its character as a guardian for travelers. The ancient Sabakaido road connecting Kyoto and Wakasa once passed through this area, and travelers stopped here to pray for safe passage. The shrine grounds include subsidiary shrines to Hiyoshi, Wakamiya, and Shimoji deities, and the annual festival is held on May 6.
