Kotoku-ji Temple is a Koyasan Shingon Buddhist temple in Tennoji Ward, Osaka, known by the mountain name Ryuhozan. Its principal object of worship is Yakushi Ruriko Nyorai, the Medicine Buddha whose radiant light is said to heal illness and sustain the well-being of body and mind. Located near the precincts of Shitennoji, one of Japan's most ancient Buddhist temples, this area has long been deeply imbued with Buddhist tradition. The temple continues to embrace the sufferings of visitors through the teachings of Shingon esoteric Buddhism.
