History
Horeisan Okatereru Jinja is located in the center of Hachinohe and enshrines Okamizui, a water deity. As the name "Horeisan" suggests, this shrine has been deeply revered by local people as one endowed with manifest spiritual efficacy. Okamizui is known for divine blessings related to rain-bringing and water, and is especially venerated by those engaged in agriculture and fishing. Positioned overlooking the city of Hachinohe, it has long been cherished as the guardian deity of the region.
