History
Jikishi-an is a Jodo-shu temple located in the Sagano area of Ukyo Ward, Kyoto. Its mountain name is Shoho-zan, and the principal image is Amida Nyorai. While the name jikishi derives from a Zen term, this hermitage is a place devoted to the path of nembutsu. It is known as a hidden autumn foliage spot, where deep crimson colors spread through the bamboo-enclosed grounds. This small hermitage deep in Sagano calms the hearts of all who visit, a peaceful sanctuary embraced by the compassionate light of Amida Nyorai.
