Hijiyama Jinja is a shrine located on Hijiyama in Minami Ward, Hiroshima. Hijiyama is a small elevated hill overlooking Hiroshima's urban center and has long been revered as a sacred place. During the post-war reconstruction period, it has been the object of local devotion as a shrine watching over the city of Hiroshima. Located within Hijiyama Park, it is crowded with cherry blossom viewers during the spring flowering season, and is ordinarily a quiet and peaceful place for worship.
