History

Byakko

Karasina Shrine stands in Yoshii, Takasaki, in an area known in ancient times as the Karasina district. It is believed to have been founded by a clan of continental immigrant lineage, and the shrine's name reflects that heritage. The surrounding area, Kambo, is thought to derive its name from the shrine's former divine estate. Even the medieval chronicle Azuma Kagami records the name of a figure from this land. The shrine was designated a historical site by Takasaki City in 1971, and its emblem is the myoga ginger blossom.
