History

Byakko

This temple was founded in 1888 when its principal image, the Great Holy Fudo Myoo, was transferred from Naritasan Shinsho-ji, the great head temple. The founding priest Azukibata Shosei established it as a Shingon Chisan sect temple. The deity was carved from a single camphor tree on the Naritasan grounds during the Tenpo era and is counted among the three great Fudo Myoo statues of Japan, having been carried over 28 days from Kazusa Province. It serves as the first temple of the North Kanto Thirty-Six Fudo Pilgrimage.
