Rinshoji

Rinshouji is a Soto school Zen temple located in Nakanojo, Agatsuma District, Gunma Prefecture. Nestled in the clear mountain scenery, it has long served as a place of training and faith for the local community. Soto Zen, transmitted from Song Dynasty China by the priest Dogen, centers on the practice of shikantaza — sitting meditation with wholehearted presence. The temple teaches that in silence, one may return to the original purity of mind. Surrounded by Nakanojo's changing seasonal landscape, Rinshouji continues to welcome visitors as an enduring place of peace and spiritual refuge.
