History
Jigen-ji standing on the high lands of Shimotakicho, true to its name, is a temple that watches over people with a gaze of compassion. Many times when I have looked up at this temple, I have felt the power of that compassionate sight. Those troubled by eye disease, and those whose hearts are darkened, all come here seeking light. The teaching of compassion recorded in ancient texts continues to breathe life here, continuing to reflect in the hearts of pilgrims. The power to see what cannot be seen is cultivated in this sacred place.
