Hanjo Jinja is a shrine located in Hanjo-cho, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto. Formerly known as Hannyo Jinja, it is also called the Benten of Kyoto and is recognized as the only shrine in Japan dedicated exclusively to business prosperity. Through the divine virtue of Benzaiten, it is said to bestow blessings not only for thriving commerce, but also for family safety, mastery of arts, and good marriage prospects. Though modest in size, it remains a vibrant center of faith among the townspeople of Kyoto.
