History

Byakko

Namba Jinja is said to have been founded during the reign of Emperor Nintoku, making it one of Osaka's oldest shrines. Historically closely connected to the Palace of Naniwa, it has walked alongside the development of Osaka as a city. Though located in the heart of the business district, the solemn atmosphere of its precincts serves as spiritual support for busy modern people. As the guardian shrine of Osaka, the city of commerce, it continues to be loved by many today.
