Ishikiri Tsurugi Ya Jinja is affectionately known as "Ishikiri-san" and is famous as the ancient shrine of the deity who heals swellings and tumors. The shrine enshrines two deities: Nigihayahi no Mikoto and Kamimi no Takate no Mikoto, who sever illnesses and calamities with their sharp sacred swords. The shrine is particularly known for its "Hyakudo Mairi," a pilgrimage practice where devotees walk back and forth along the stone-paved grounds while offering prayers. In the Kansai region, it commands extraordinary faith as the "deity of swellings," with people from across the nation visiting to pray for recovery from illness. The surrounding shopping district is also lively, making it enjoyable to explore after one's visit.
