Ōgo Shrine

Ogo Jinja is located in Kawarahama-machi, Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture. Formerly known as Chikato Jinja, it served as the guardian shrine of Ogo Castle to the south. The shrine was renamed Ogo Jinja in the mid-Meiji period. With the former rank of gōsha (village shrine), it has long been venerated by local farming families praying for abundant harvests and household safety, maintaining a close bond with the lords of Ogo Castle and the surrounding community.
