History

Byakko

Tenmangu is enshrined on Utatsu Mountain in Kanazawa. It enshrines Sugawara no Michizane and is beloved by many students and examination candidates as the deity of learning. Utatsu Mountain is a scenic spot overlooking Kanazawa's castle town and has long been visited by many men of letters and artists. Since Michizane excelled in literature and poetry, this beautiful view is an ideal place to pursue one's studies with dedication. I too often enjoy gazing upon Kanazawa's streets from this vantage point.
