Sugou Shrine

Sugo Shrine, also known as Sugou Tenmangu, is located in Mihara Ward, Sakai City, Osaka. It is listed in the Engishiki Jinmyocho (the official register of shrines compiled in the Heian period), attesting to its ancient origins. The principal deity is Sugawara Michizane, the patron of scholarship and learning. Formerly ranked as a go-sha (district shrine), this venerable shrine has long been revered as a center of learning and wisdom in the Sakai region. Students still visit to pray for academic success and exam results.
