Amaterasu Omikami Takakura Jinja is enshrined on the slopes of Mount Koan in Kyoji, Yao City, Osaka Prefecture. Its deities are Amaterasu Omikami and Takamimusubi no Kami. The shrine is listed in the Engishiki Jinmyocho as a shikinaisha of Kawachi Province, formerly called the Grand Shikinaisha Takakura Jinja. Its founding date is unknown, but tradition holds that the deity was transferred from Ise Province in the 23rd year of Emperor Yuryaku (479 CE). The main hall sits upon bedrock, suggesting origins in primitive worship. A waterfall called Shiromeshi no Taki within the grounds is said never to run dry even in drought. Adjacent to the west stands the closely related Iwato Jinja.
