History

Byakko

One of Kyoto's oldest shrines, said to have been founded when Empress Jingu conducted her conquest of the three kingdoms. Particularly famous as the god of victory in competition and horses, it is well-known for receiving devoted worship from those in the horse racing industry. The Fujimori Festival held every May features the Kaakeuma ritual, counted among Kyoto's three great rare festivals and known for its spirited performance. In the grounds, water known as 'Fuji Water' flows as a sacred spring sought by many for its spiritual benefits to competitive success.
