History
This shrine, located in the center of Maebashi City, is Tōshōgū, enshrining Tokugawa Ieyasu. Its founding began in the late Edo period when Sakai Tadakiyo, the lord of the Maebashi Domain, built the shrine buildings in praise of Ieyasu's divine virtues. The main hall is in the Gongen-zukuri style, adorned with magnificent carvings, and its beauty fascinates visitors. The precincts have a quiet and calm atmosphere, creating a space that offers solace despite being in the city. Many worshipers visit to remember the great virtues of Ieyasu and to receive his divine blessings.
