Tsubakihara Tenmangu is a Tenmangu shrine located in Tenjincho, Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture. Founded in 1297 (Einin 5) by the guardian Togashi Yoshichika, the shrine was relocated to its current site during the Kanei era of the Edo period. The grounds preserve traces of Tsubakihara Fortress, which was used as a stronghold during the Ikko-ikki uprising. As one of the Kanazawa Gosha (Five Shrines of Kanazawa), the shrine holds the former rank of kensha (prefectural shrine). Dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, the deity of learning, it continues to receive many visitors seeking blessings for academic success.
