History

Byakko

Jigenin is a temple of the Shingon-shu Omuro school, located in Hineno, Izumisano, Osaka. Its principal deity is Yakushi Nyorai, the healing Buddha. The temple's National Treasure multi-storied pagoda (tahoto) is counted among Japan's three great pagodas alongside those at Ishiyama-dera and Kongosanmai-in. The temple grounds are designated as a national historic site as part of the Hineno-sho estate ruins. Until the late early-modern period, it served as the shrine-temple for the adjacent Hine Shrine.
