History

Byakko

Kuwazu Tenmansha is located in Kuwazu, Higashisumiyoshi Ward, Osaka City, and once held the rank of village shrine (son-sha). The principal deity is Sukunahikona no Mikoto, the god of medicine and matchmaking, who has long been revered as the tutelary deity of the Kuwazu community, bringing healing and good fortune. By the Meiji period, through the government shrine consolidation policy, ten additional deities were enshrined here—including Sugawara no Michizane, Susanoo no Mikoto, and others—bringing the total to eleven divine enshrined. The shrine continues to host its annual festival, preserving local traditions and bringing the community together across generations.
