History

Byakko

This shrine is Itakura Raiden Jinja, dedicated to the deity of lightning. Since ancient times, people have visited this place to prevent damage from thunderstorms and pray for good harvests. Its benefits against lightning are said to be immense, attracting many worshippers during the summer months when lightning is frequent. It is also worshipped as a deity for rain prayers, and during droughts, people offer their wishes for rain to reach the heavens. I too must be careful of lightning.
