Kashima Shrine, located in Shimoda-nishi, Kashiba City, Nara Prefecture, is the very shrine that gave Kashiba City its name. It enshrines Takemikazuchi-no-Mikoto, the god of thunder and martial arts, as its principal deity. As part of the Kashima faith originating from the great Kashima Jingu shrine in Ibaraki Prefecture, this shrine has long served as a guardian of the local community in the Yamato region.
