History

Byakko

Musashi Mitake Jinja, enshrined on the sacred peak of Mt. Mitake, has long been known as one of the Kanto region's most sacred spiritual sites. Enshrining Kushimachi no Mikoto and Ōmononushi no Kami, it has been revered as a holy place of mountain worship and has received the respect of many warriors throughout history. Built near the summit at 929 meters elevation, this shrine has from ancient times treasured mountain dogs (wolves) as the messengers of the gods, and many people continue to visit to pray for the health of their beloved pets. The spectacular views overlooking the Kanto Plain are also wonderful.
