History

Byakko

Myogyoji Temple in Nishi-Sugamo, Toshima Ward, Tokyo, belongs to the Honke Jinmon school of the Hokke sect. With the mountain name Chotokuzan and the principal image of Daimandara, it was first established in the Keicho era. After being destroyed in the Great Fire of Meireki (1657), it was relocated and rebuilt on its present site. The temple has served for generations as a base for propagating Nichiren-related teachings and continues to attract devoted worshippers.
