History

Shioya Hachimangu in Yatsushiro, Kumamoto, is a former village shrine dedicated to Emperor Ojin, Empress Jingu, and Tamayori-hime. As a Hachiman shrine facing Yatsushiro Sea, it has long protected maritime trade and safe voyages, while also blessing worshippers with safe childbirth, child-rearing, and military fortune.
