History
Saijo Inari is known as one of Japan's three great Inari shrines and is a leading sacred site representing Okayama! Its formal name is Saijo Inari Yama Myokyo-ji. It is said to have been founded by Hooon Daishi during the Nara period. It enshrines Saijo-i Kyoo-o Bosatsu and has been revered since ancient times as the 'deity of accommodation.' The massive grand torii gate and the magnificent Reikodan Hall are impressive, and many pilgrims visit from throughout the nation.
