Kibitsuhiko Jinja is an ancient shrine that enshrines Kibitsuhiko no Mikoto, said to be the model for Momotaro! It is said to have been founded during the reign of Emperor Sujin, making it a shrine of considerable distinction. Kibitsuhiko no Mikoto was dispatched as one of the Four Road Generals to the Sanyo Road and has a legend of defeating a demon called Ura. This is truly the prototype of the Momotaro legend. It was revered by the imperial court as the First Shrine of Bizen Province and is known for its benefits of victory in contests and protection from calamity.
