History

Byakko

Kibitsu Jinja is a venerable ancient shrine dedicated to Ōkibitsu Hiko no Mikoto and serves as the ichinomiya of Bitchu Province. Its founding is said to trace back to the age of the gods, and together with Kibitsu Hiko Jinja, it is considered a sacred site connected to the Momotarō legend. The highlight is undoubtedly the 398-meter-long covered corridor, which boasts the longest length in Japan. The main hall is designated as a National Treasure and features the distinctive "Kibitsu-style" architecture, whose beauty is breathtaking. The shrine is also renowned for the Naruama Shinto ritual, where the sound of a sacred kettle is used to divine good and bad fortune.
