History
Shomanin, also known as Aizen-do, is a temple of the Washu sect located in Tennoji Ward, Osaka. It serves as a sub-temple of Shitenno-ji and stands as the first temple of the Saigoku Aizen Seventeen Sacred Sites. The principal image is Aizen Myoo, the deity of love and attachment. The multitiered pagoda on the grounds is the oldest wooden structure in Osaka City. The temple is also the head training hall of the Shingon Esoteric Shomanryu school, maintaining an unbroken tradition of esoteric Buddhist practice.
