Tenmangu stands in Fushio and enshrines Sugawara no Michizane, the deity famous for scholarship. Beloved by the local people, this Tenjin shrine is visited by many students and parents especially during examination season to pray for successful results. Beautiful plum trees are planted within the sacred grounds, and in spring, the plum blossoms beloved by Michizane no Mikoto color the grounds. Cherished also as the tutelary deity of the locality, it continues to watch over the healthy growth and academic achievement of children.
