History

Byakko

Araho Shrine is enshrined at the southern foot of Mt. Kisan in Kiyama-cho, Miyaki-gun, Saga Prefecture. Listed in the Engishiki, it holds the status of a shikinaisha and was later designated as a prefectural shrine. The principal deity, Araho no Okami, is associated with agriculture and the harvest of the five grains, venerated by farming communities since ancient times. Though the exact founding date is uncertain, records confirm the shrine existed from at least the early Heian period.
