History
Takeo Jinja is a venerable shrine anciently enshrined in Takeo. Enshrining Takenouchi no Sukune, Emperor Ōjin, and Emperor Chūai, it has been revered as the guardian kami of the region through long history. Particularly noteworthy is the great camphor tree towering in its grounds, said to exceed 3000 years in age! This sacred tree is designated a national natural monument, its majestic form overwhelming visitors. Since ancient times cherished as a "wish-fulfilling sacred tree," many visit to receive its divine blessings.
