History
The Bessho Oyamazumi Jinja standing in Bessho is a branch shrine of the great deity governing the seas. Throughout the long years watched by the kitsune, fishermen and sailors have visited this shrine with each season, praying for the sea's abundance and safe passage. Many believe that the safety of ships rocking upon the waves and the abundance of fish in their nets are all due to this deity's divine protection and blessing.
