Tenka Daibenzaiten Sha stands in the deep mountains of Yoshino and is celebrated nationally as a shrine whose divine efficacy for the performing arts is manifest. Since ancient times it has gathered the faith of ascetics and performing artists, and is particularly known as "Tenka Mairi" in the worlds of Noh theater and traditional court music. Benzaiten is known as the deity of music and the arts, and the sound of sacred music resonating through the sacred grounds is most beautiful. It also serves as the entrance to Mount Omine, a sacred site of Shugendo, making it a special shrine where people seeking to elevate their spirituality visit from throughout the nation.
