History
Sawawachgi Jinja is an ancient shrine situated by the seaside of Kitaibaraki. This shrine, read as "sawawachigi," enshrines the Kunitskami (native deities) and has long been revered as the guardian deity of the land. In this seaside location, fishermen and farmers have continued their visits for generations, praying for abundant catches and bountiful harvests. With the sound of waves nearby, this shrine possesses the rare divine virtue of overseeing both the blessings of the sea and the blessings of the earth.
