History

Byakko

Kugenuma Fushimi Inari Jinja is located in Kugenuma-kaigan, Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture. Its origins trace to 1937, when an Inari worship association branch was established on Kugenuma Beach. As momentum grew for founding a local tutelary shrine, a divided spirit of Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto was enshrined here on May 12, 1943. The five Inari deities, led by Uka no Mitama no Okami, are worshipped for blessings of business prosperity and family safety. The approach lined with vermilion torii gates creates a mystical atmosphere, and white fox statues, messengers of the Inari deity, are enshrined throughout the grounds. The annual festival is held on August 9th.
