Itakiso Jinja is an ancient shrine located in Wakayama City, renowned for enshrining Isatakedru no Mikoto, the god of trees. According to the Nihon Shoki, Isatakedru no Mikoto traveled throughout Japan planting trees and is said to be the origin of the name "the land of trees," Wakayama. Since ancient times, the shrine has been revered as the guardian deity of the forestry and construction industries, answering all wishes related to trees. Within the shrine grounds stands a sacred tree several hundred years old, and touching its vital force revitalizes both body and spirit. The sacred precinct, surrounded by verdant trees, is truly a holy site befitting the forest god.
