Kosa Jinja in Kosa Town, Kamimashiki District, Kumamoto, is the Second Shrine of Higo Province. Together with Aso Jinja, Kounoura Jinja, and Kenguri Jinja, it is revered as one of the Four Aso Shrines, serving as the guardian of southern Higo. Originally called Kaburazaki-gu, it was renamed Kosa-gu after Empress Jingu is said to have deposited her armor here upon her return from campaign. In the Kamakura period, the warrior Takezaki Suenaga dedicated his illustrated scroll Moko Shurai Ekotoba to this shrine. The principal deity is Yaimimidama no Mikoto (Kosa Myojin). The former shrine rank was go-sha.
