Ninomiya Jinja in Akiruno City is a prestigious shrine boasting a long history as the Second Shrine of Musashi Province. This shrine, which has continued since the Heian period, has deep connections with the provincial government and has been revered by the imperial court as an important shrine of Musashi Province. Enshrining Kunitokotachi no Mikoto as the principal deity, it is venerated as the deity of the earth and creation. In the fertile land surrounded by the Tamagawa and Akigawa rivers, it has been cherished as a guardian deity of agriculture, with people continuously visiting to pray for good harvests and abundant crops. Even today, traditional Shinto rituals are performed at the annual Grand Festival, and the shrine continues to play an important role as a cultural center of the community.
