History
Naritasan Shinshoji is a renowned temple known throughout Japan as the head temple of the Shingon Chizan school. It is said to have been founded in 940 (Tengyō 3) when Abbot Kanjō enshrined the Acalanatha Buddha. Affectionately known as "Narita's Acalanatha," it attracts numerous pilgrims seeking traffic safety and protection from misfortune. From the Edo period's Narita pilgrimage tradition to the New Year celebrations, it boasts some of Japan's highest pilgrimage numbers. This temple of miraculous spiritual efficacy fulfills the wishes of many people through the compassionate power of Acalanatha.

御朱印は境内の大本堂・釈迦堂・光明堂・出世稲荷・平和大塔・醫王殿の6か所で別々に授与されており、全種類いただくには2〜3時間かかります。出世稲荷は他より早めに受付が終了することがあるため、最初に向かうのがおすすめです。
額堂(がくどう)は重要文化財で、堂内に七代目市川團十郎の等身大石像が安置されていますが、大本堂の脇に位置します。
土日祝の昼〜15時頃が最も混雑するピーク帯で、朝8〜10時か夕方16時以降に訪れると境内をゆっくり回れます。
