Awa Jinja is a venerable shrine of distinguished rank, the primary shrine of Awa Province, situated at the southernmost tip of the Boso Peninsula. With Ame-no-Futodama-no-Mikoto as its principal deity, it is said to have been founded by the Inbe clan, who migrated from Awa Province (present-day Tokushima Prefecture) to this land. This shrine, from which the place name 'Awa' itself derives, has gathered the faith of people praying for industrial development and technological advancement, as it is revered as the deity of craftsmanship and creation. The sacred precinct, overlooking the beautiful Boso coast, is filled with a majestic atmosphere, and visitors can feel the powerful spiritual energy of this holy site, which purifies both body and soul.
